Westward Ho!

Perhaps this will be news to some, but from the New Year the Yamagata-Madlons will be New Yorkers no more. We will become Seattelites. The rudeness, filth, and climate of New York, not to mention the Terror-Awareness, finally got to us. New York was always temporary for us. If The Wife didn’t need to come here to finish school, I never would have returned at all. I didn’t want to rush her out of here, but our trip to the Southwest made us both see how much nicer the world outside New York is. Clean air. Healthy attitudes. Wide open spaces.

That means this will be a tight few months for us. I finish working at Built NY around Thanksgiving. After turkey in Poughkeepsie, we will head out to Seattle for a house hunt. We return for a few days and then head down to sunny Cancun for our wedding ceremony (not to be confused with our marriages in Osaka and Brooklyn). After 10 days on the beach, we return to Queens again to pack up and send our stuff off with the movers. Then we will hop in the old Honda and drive across the U.S. to our new home to sit and wait for our possessions.

It’s a good thing I married someone as impetuous as I am. Wish us luck!

As of yesterday, I am Paul Yamagata-Madlon. What do you think of that?

Whoops! I accidentally shut my blog down for several days. I made a change to my domain settings and didn’t bother to look at my site for a few days. Not that it matters much since, until this posting, there was only one post in the blog. This will change.
